NFTE's aim has always been to empower young people by giving them the skills they need to lead an enterprising, self-directed, and successful life.

The rationale for the Student Youth Board is to ensure that NFTE remains a youth centred organization that listens to and is informed by the opinions and suggestions of the young people who form a part of NFTE. 

The NFTE Youth board is made up of 21 entrepreneurial young people from seven schools across London.  They meet three times a year and give valuable input into the way the Trade Fair works and how NFTE is run.

The aim of the NFTE Youth Board is:

• to ensure a student involvement in NFTE's decision making processes regarding programme and curriculum activities
• to establish a model of communication that will enable NFTE to grow an alumni network
• to engage young people with successful entrepreneurs and business people to develop their business acumen and communication skills.

this year the NFTE Youth Board is building an alumni network and has a theme of social enterprise 

For the first time ever, the NFTE Youth Board will be running a mini social enterprise, selling Fair Trade products at their schools and in their local communities.  The money raised will go directly to towns in Africa and help rebuild communities.

The Youth Board members meet three times a year:

• an annual launch event
• second Youth Board meeting
• Alumni reunion network
