teachers : awards

Every year, NFTE recognises the great efforts of our teachers, whose hard work and dedication, motivates students to achieve their best potential and create successful enterprises.  The NFTE programme could not succeed without them, and their impact goes a long way.

Each year, we select our top teacher to be considered for the annual awards extravaganza that takes place in New York, hosted and honoured by NFTE US.  One teacher from every NFTE country is awarded with a prize and expenses paid trip to New York.

This year, in 2008, Rob Wood from Writhlington School in Bath was awarded the prize of 'Certified Entrepreneurship Teacher of the Year' for the UK.  Rob was chosen for his successful integration of the NFTE programme as a vocational pathway for lower ability students,  for his tireless commitment to helping enhance the NFTE experience for his students, and also for helping create new developments for NFTE.

Rob has acted as a lead network school in the South West area, linking NFTE schools together and also promoting the programme to new local schools.  Through his work we have had a South West Network Day for teachers, and a South West Trade Fair for students happen in the area for the first time, hosted and organised by Writhlington School.  In addition, Rob has proved pivotal in opening up further opportunities for NFTE in terms of accreditation.
