teachers : accreditation
News! NFTE is currently the only enterprise education provider to have a mapped curriculum, resources and assignment task templates to facilitate assessment for these awards.
Edexcel
- BTEC 'Preparing for Enterprise'
In this current year the BTEC award has continued to have great results, with returns notified so far indicating a pass rate of 90% across all students entered.
Sadly, as some of you already know, the current Level 2 BTEC Preparing for Enterprise Award will only be available to students aged 16-19 years from September 09 following a review by SFEDI. The alternative award for 14-16 years with Edexcel is
- BTEC 'Understanding Business Enterprise'
Students also have the option of taking the QCF Award 'Understanding Enterprise' [0.5 GCSE equivalent] and also take an enterprise theme in work skills with a L2 certificate. This means students can, in effect, achieve 1.5 GCSE equivalent.
However if this is not ideal for your needs we have been working with other exam boards to find other accreditation alternatives.
NCFE
- Level 2 award and certificate for Developing Enterprise Capabilities
We are delighted to announce that we have now begun working with NCFE, a leading provider of nationally recognised qualifications, with regards to their Level 2 Certificate & Award: 'Developing Enterprise Capabilities'. This award is a non-exam based qualification: assessed by a portfolio of evidence, equivalent to a grade B GCSE / 46 points, the certificate is 120 GLH [the award is 30 GLH] and the certificate is currently being mapped to the NFTE curriculum and student folder to be ready for the next school year.
If you intend to run the NCFE award in September 2009, we strongly recommend you order the NCFE Enterprise Capabilities Centre Support Pack which will assist in the delivery of the award and provides examples of how the learning outcomes may be achieved.
Registering for the NCFE award
For those of you planning to conduct the NCFE award next year, please note that there are 3 stages to the registration process:
1) Registration for approval to deliver and assess the award as a NCFE centre (if your school is not already a NCFE centre)
2) Registration of the relevant NCFE award programme – Level 2 'Developing Enterprise Capabilities
3) Registration of the individual students for the award
Asdan
- Enterprise Award
The Enterprise Award has been developed by ASDAN in partnership with NFTE and accredits up to 60 hours of Enterprise activity.
However, ASDAN's Enterprise Award is not a stand-alone qualification but a short course divided into 6 modules and based on the NFTE programme. This can be linked with COPE or Wider Key Skills for accreditation at either level 1 or level 2, equivalent to 2.5 GCSE's. |
